Menu Planning Process

Here are the five steps I take for my weekly menu planning:

  1. Review sales flyer to see what dinner items are on sale.
  2. Choose recipes from Our Family’s Favorite Recipes Binder and/or search for new ones using the sale items.  This is a binder where I keep all the recipes that I have made and are worth remaking.  I will make photocopies from my cookbooks, tear out pages from magazines and put them in an 8.5″ x 11″ page protector and store them in a 3-ring binder. Indexed by categories.
  3. Write down menu plan and attach recipes to my “What’s for Dinner?” board.
  4. Create my shopping list using my favorite shopping list  app. . . Ziplist.
  5. Go shopping.

This is usually a process I follow over a few days, depending on my schedule.  I have been know to squeeze it all into one, though.
