Get Organized Challenge-Week #1 Recap

I am happy to report I made great progress in Week #1 of the Get Organized Challenge!! I have completed all the steps on the checklist, and am ready for the Piles of Paper Challenge tonight.  The fun part of this is I found a couple treasures that I forgot about.  And then there was the what was I thinking when I bought this…well, you know how that goes.
I do want to mention, even though I ended up with many boxes of things to give away, as I go through the sorting process, I need to let go of some more…and I will…just have to take it one step at a time.
I have gone ahead a little with sorting some of my embellishments and wanted to share my process. I am somewhat organized in that I have categories of things stashed in different drawers and boxes, but it’s still hard to rifle through and find stuff.
  1. Bling drawer
  2. Assorted metal embellishments
  3. Buttons and charms
  4. Since I am sorting everything by color I began by writing the color on a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock.  The bowls are to catch the loose items.
  5. I ended up adding some themes to the colors as I was going through things and I put the different categories in little piles.
  6. Then I put the little piles in ziploc bags (sorry, no picture) and transferred the bags in to plastic shoeboxes since I didn’t finish going through all my embellishments yet.

Here is my list of colors:  Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Back, White, Tan/Neutral, Silver, Gold, Copper, Clear.
Themes: Christmas, Winter, Spring, Summer, Love/Wedding, Boy, Girl, Baby, Insects/animals/birds, Halloween, Alphas/Numbers.  And I have so many hearts and stars I put those in color families separately.

For those who are playing along in the challenge would love to hear how you did.  For those not, it’s not too late.  You can start any time.  You can find the link to sign up for the free webinar here.

  1. Than you for sharing. I need the inspiration

  2. Hi. When reading your Themes, it appear you group your calendar stuff with your themes? Is that right? And also, I am trying to figure out…if I do the themes (not just calendar), it seems I may not have ANY paper in there, just stickers & embellies…is that right?
